LIFE | December Thoughts & Inspirations

December 19, 2016

I can't believe it's almost 2017, I haven't even completed my list of good intentions (yet!). It's quite hilarious how every year, I write down a list of things I want to accomplish in the following year when instead, I should just follow the flow of life and take things as they come. If I were to evaluate 2016, it wouldn't be getting good ratings as this has probably been one of the hardest years of my 20 years of existence. I've dealt with physical problems that have lead to mental changes and my perception of events. I learned to focus on the good and not be ashamed of having a cry now and then. It's okay to be soft nowadays and don't let people or situations make you feel indifferent about anything. I learned that letting go is easier said than done. I learned that, despite thinking I know myself completely, I'm still discovering who I am and what my goals are in life. I also learned that learning is a good thing and it's something that will always be present in everybody's life.

LIFE | Turning 20 and The Bucket List

December 8, 2016

The feeling of turning twenty is frightening yet freeing at the same time. To me, no longer being 19 means having more responsibilities, less spare time and being myself. Successful people (singers, actors, CEO's of multinationals) seem to have an incredible list of accomplishments on their curriculum vitae or they're well-known and famous at the age of twenty. For a university student with little to no accomplishments on her cv this can lead to frustrations sometimes. I know it's not the most important thing to worry about, but it does bother me now and then.

As a fifteen year old girl, I always thought being twenty meant that I would completely know myself, I'd have my life figured out and my social contacts would be booming. Also, I most likely envisioned myself with a cute guy on my arm when instead, I'm watching Ed Sheeran's 'funniest moments' and I can only dream of meeting a guy like him one day. What I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't let yourself guide by an ideal that you or someone else imprinted in your head. It's okay not to have a picture perfect life with Bridget Jones being incredibly and scarily relatable (she too got married in the end with a lovely man).

I've been struggling with anxiety a lot lately and it's not the easiest mindset to live with. Everything that goes wrong or feels wrong is giving me nightmares and heart palpitations. I'm working on my own brand (aka my blog), I'm finishing an ebook and I'm pushing myself to be who I am. Those projects make me feel proud of myself, but they also stress me out. To prevent these anxiety attacks I wrote a list of things I want to accomplish this year and it's not the most mainstream one, but it's part of my 'ME' project where I want to be completely in peace with who I am and where my life will take me. Life is a crazy, scary ride with unexpected events along the way, but a gift wouldn't make you as happy as it does now if you always knew what the content would be, right?

STYLE | Shades of Beige

December 4, 2016

One of the perks of the not so pleasant winter weather is the sun. The lighting for photos is absolutely gorgeous and I could take a thousand pictures of the sunset (I've taken about a hundred already, don't judge me). The temperature, on the other hand, isn't my thing. It's freezing and my hands were completely stiff and frozen after taking these photographs. I'm also attempting to film a lookbook for my YouTube channel, but not having someone to film and being on my own with my trusty tripod isn't ideal.

This outfit is pretty much my basic winter attire and the only thing that switches up is the color of the sweater and which pair of black trousers I'm wearing that day. Other than that, I keep myself warm with a thick scarf, warm gloves and winter socks (yes, the ones that your grandma used to buy for you). I would love to know what your basic winter outfit is!

STYLE | Christmas and Birthday Wishlisting

November 29, 2016

Festive socks & slippers: Etam // Pinafore dress & sweater: Topshop // backpack: Topshop // Embroidered denim: Topshop // Candle: Dyptique

I've said this multiple times before and I'll keep repeating myself every single year or until Christmas stops exisiting. It's my favorite time of the year and I'm so incredibly excited for the holidays. As a student I know that Christmas is a synonym for studying and locking yourself up in your bedroom until the day passes by. That, however, doesn't mean you can't make yourself comfortable and cozy in the room that might possibly drive you nuts whilst studying. December is also my birthday month (only 9 days to go until my 20th birthday) which means that my family members are constantly questioning my wishlist. Time for an update it is!

FOOD | What I Ate Today #7

November 22, 2016

It seems like I only blog about food and most of my time goes to filming and editing YouTube videos, but I promise it's not true. It's simply much easier to film something in bad lighting than to take photographs in awful lighting or maybe that's me being a perfectionist when it comes to photography. I hope you're enjoying the videos, though, and I hope I'll be able to write more fashion-related posts soon.

I've just been feeling really, extremely crappy lately and I'm not in the mood for photographing my face. If you don't feel well, there's no fun in photographing those moments to then having to look back at them later. Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy this short what I ate today video! XX

FOOD | Oats & Book Fairs

November 13, 2016

Friday was a pretty busy day, not only did I film my first ever morning routine, I also visited a book fair in Antwerp and I filmed what I ate that day. Lately I've been really enjoying filming videos and editing them. After nearly four years of writing blog posts and taking photos, which I really do enjoy, don't get me wrong, it's been lovely to have a change of scenery. YouTube videos have always been my favorite waste of time and making them might be either a bigger waste of time or a way to be creative on the Internet.

My old computer, however, hasn't been the biggest fan of the YouTube game and I'm afraid it's about to give up on me... Thank goodness I bought another one recently after a year of saving up money. Anyway, what are your thoughts on YouTube and as I've got a bit more spare time on my hands, which kind of videos or blogposts would you like to see in the near future? Nausikaä

LIFE | A Morning Routine

November 11, 2016

I finally got enough courage to film a Morning Routine for you. You probably wouldn't say so, but I'm extremely camera shy. I don't like seeing my face on photos or videos and that's why I've always put off making YouTube videos. But, since I'm starting to accept myself more and I'm no longer too shy to make a camera appearance, I filmed myself for the first time! I tried to make this morning routine as accurate as possible and I really hope you'll enjoy it! Nausikaä

FOOD | What I Ate Today #6

November 5, 2016

I decided to take you with me to Leuven (the town where I study) where me and my mum did some shopping but ended up only buying Frozen plasters and I filmed what I ate that day. I normally don't eat this much unhealthy food, but hey #balance. I can't resist a sweet simple vegan treat, right? ;)

FOOD | What I Ate Today #5

October 23, 2016

Goodmorning! It's been super cold these last couple of days and I love making myself a warm, filling bowl of porridge in the morning to start the day. I always feel so much better when I eat a large breakfast! My lunch was pretty special for a Saturday because I was working on my ebook and that calls for recepy testing. My dinner was pretty simple and healthy to make up for the waffles and salty chips I had earlier that day. I kept it pretty light so I could eat more dessert. Who doesn't like apple pear crumble on a cold, autumnal day? I know I do! Bon appétit!

LIFE | Autumn Moodboard

October 18, 2016

I'm a Fall person, I like my almond milk hot chocolate, pumpkin squash and big cozy scarves. Also, I can't write about my autumn moodboard without mentioning fall candles and Halloween. I decided to make a list of things that make autumn so lovely to get you in the cozy mood if you weren't already. What are your favorite autumnal things?

Favorite food: oatmeal with apples, raisins and cinnamon; sweet potato puree, pumpkin soup, apple crumble pie.
Favorite clothing: cozy scarves, teddy coats, warm sweaters, socks, beanies.
Favorite decorations: dried leaves, cinnamon candles, blankets, pinecones.
Favorite activities: walks in the forest, drinking cinnamon tea, Halloween, reading books.

STYLE | The Checked Scarf and Cigarette Trousers

October 16, 2016

The one thing I regret the most in the world right now is probably not having shot a picture of the back of the blouse I'm wearing in these photos. It's absolutely gorgeous and yes, you're missing out. But I'm pretty sure this won't be the only time I'm showing you this grey blouse because I'm in love with it. I bought the blouse in Spain last summer and it makes every outfit effortlessly classy. The warm scarf is my favorite autumn staple and the colors fit the teddy coat so well. I got the trousers in Paris a month ago and I wasn't able to wear them because of my surgery, but now that I'm (almost) healed I'm so excited to wear them more often! I would love to know how you would style these cigarette trousers!

trousers: Topshop // shoes: vegan Doc Martens // shirt: Stradivarius // scarf: H&M // coat: Sammydress

FOOD | What I Ate Today #4

It's Sunday, which means I'm sharing another What I Ate today video with you! This is what I typically eat on a Saturday in autumn. I love to kick off my day with Weetabix, then have something warm for lunch (like cooked oats, or pancakes) and my dinner is usually pretty simple (something with rice or rice noodles in this case). Enjoy the video!

FOOD | What I Ate Today #3

October 10, 2016

I've been really enjoying filming and editing 'What I ate today videos' lately as it's something completely different than blogging. Of course I love my blog and I can't wait to start posting outfit pictures again soon, but to relax and enjoy myself after a long week of uni I like to keep myself busy with filming and editing videos. I know some people think it's ridiculous to film what you eat in a day, but to me it's a form of entertainment and distraction. I hope you'll enjoy this video as much as I do and I would love to know what you think of 'what I ate today' videos (even if you dislike them)!

FOOD | Breakfast Recipes for a Productive Day

October 7, 2016

Sometimes my schedule for the day is quite hectic, especially when I've got a lot of work for university and my day seems too short to get it all done. Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I like getting energized for the busy day ahead, I like to have a tasty, healthy 'brekkie'. My favorite healthy breakfasts are banana bread, nicecream and oatmeal. I would love to know what you like to eat for breakfast when there's a busy day ahead.

If you've been wondering why I haven't been updating my blog that frequently lately, it's because I've been traveling or working on my ebook and I'm currently still recovering from surgery which makes it impossible to take outfit photos. But hopefully I'll be able to update lots more once I'm healed and settled for uni.

CHOCOLATE BANANA NICECREAM
The banana nicecream pictured at the top of this blog post is my favorite way to start the day when I'm planning on breaking a sweat. E.g. working out, doing chores etc. It immediately makes me feel awake and it's so easy to make. You just add three bananas to a food processor and add some cocoa powder. Blend and serve!

OATMEAL WITH SEEDS

Oatmeal is my top favorite breakfast. Ever since I traveled to America about a year ago, I've been hooked on oatmeal. I love making my oats with almond milk in the microwave and lately, I've been adding blackstrap molasses to them for extra 'health' (not pictured though). I always add some seeds on top, this time I added flaxseeds and pumpkin seeds (for Omega 3 and magnesium). Delicious and nutritious!

BANANA ALMOND BREAD

I'm a banana bread fan and I'm still creating new banana bread recipes because I can't get enough of it. One of my most successful recipes will be in my ebook, but for now you can use my 'older' recipe. I promise it's super tasty! Banana bread always fills me up and keeps me going for hours.

FOOD | Cauliflower Couscous Salad

October 2, 2016

It's been all about food on my blog lately, so I'm sharing another recipe with you today! This super healthy, yummy and easy cauliflower couscous salad is one of my absolute favorite dishes to make. I made a little video on how to prepare this salad and I really hope you'll enjoy watching (and maybe making) the recipe! Bon appétit!

FOOD | What I ate Today #2

September 26, 2016

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crt6TTeGWbQ

I've been watching 'what I ate today' videos on Youtube non-stop these last couple of days. I'm bored of not being able to do anything and I love getting inspired by these videos, so I decided to film another one myself. I posted a video a couple months ago, so I needed to update it asap. I hope you'll enjoy the video and I would love to know if you'd like to see more of them!

STYLE | Autumn Trends & Inspiration

September 25, 2016

I can't believe it's almost October and I need to change my wardrobe for Autumn/Fall. It's still quite sunny outside, so I can still wear dresses and summery outfits, but the temperature is slowly dropping. Also, I haven't been able to wear anything other than comfortable dresses due to my surgery. I'm still recovering which is why I haven't been posting any outfits lately. I can't sit, I can't walk very far and I can barely sleep. But, it's getting better and hopefully I can be active soon. Fingers crossed.

I didn't want to leave you empty handed, so I made an autumn moodboard with my favorite trends to keep you inspired. I've been loving the denim trend and I've seen a lot of women in Paris wearing mom jeans or jeans that aren't skinny. Love! The other trend I'm quite excited about are the cigarette pants, I recently got a pair from Topshop, but I haven't been able to wear them (yet). Last but not least, lace is everywhere and it's adorable! What are your favorite autumn trends?

TRAVEL | The Costa Blanca Diaries

September 19, 2016

As you may (or may not) know, I traveled to the Costa Blanca, Calpe to be precise, for ten days with my brother and my dad. I'd never been to Spain before - my parents would probably interrupt me know, saying I went to Madrid when I was about four years old, but I can't remember any of it - so the culture and landscape was relatively new to me. It reminded me of Italy sometimes, but the culture is totally different. I definitely want to travel back to Spain sometime to visit some of the places again and discover other parts of the country. Here's my list of my favorite things to see in Spain at the Costa Blanca.

Altea is probably my favorite little city near Calpe and we visited the old town twice because it was too lovely and cozy. If you're looking for a good place to eat and a super cozy atmosphere, Altea is definitely the place to go. The shops open around 7PM, so don't leave too early if you want to buy some pretty souvenirs or if you fancy going there for dinner.

If we're talking about dinner spots, I mustn't forget to mention Valencia. Although this isn't technically part of the 'Costa Blanca', we did visit the city and the food was amazing. There were so many vegan restaurants with amazing food, but as a Loving Hut Lover - see what I did there? - I really fancied a burger from Loving Hut. Sadly, there were no burgers but there was a huge  buffet with burgers, sandwiches, lasagna, Thai food etc. It was literally vegan food heaven. So please visit Loving Hut when you're in Valencia!

The other thing we did in Valencia, besides eating, was viewing the masterpieces Calatrava designed. My brother studied architecture and was, and still is, a huge fan of Calatrava. His buildings are indeed amazing and I was really impressed.

Another scenic city is 'Villajoyosa', also know as 'La Villa Joyosa'. This little city is gorgeous and colorful. Every house has a different color and if you weren't in that holiday mood before, you will be when visiting Villajoyosa. The restaurants on the coastline are pretty cheap and if you're vegan, they'll gladly change up the menu so you've got something tasty to eat. Patatas bravas with ketchup and a summer salad are always a good idea.

What is your favorite city on the Costa Blanca?

TRAVEL | Four Days in Paris

September 15, 2016

I spent four unforgettable days in Paris with my best friend and it was one of the loveliest trips I did this year. There's something about going on holiday with your best friend that makes the whole experience unique and I would definitely do it all over again (asap please).

We visited nearly every touristy attraction (Tour Eiffel, Arc de Triomphe, Jardin des Tuileries, Louvre, Jardin du Luxembourg etc.), but we also felt like two Parisiennes when going vintage shopping or drinking tea in the neighbourhood. These are some photos I took during the trip and they're random, but if you want to see a full outfit post then let me know!

STYLE | Stripy and Vintage in Valencia

August 28, 2016

Whilst visiting Valencia, I kindly asked my brother to take outfit photos because I really loved the combination of the stripy loose blouse and the vintage Levi's shorts. I got the blouse in Altea the day before and the watch I'm wearing is from a shop on the beach in Calpe. It was boiling hot that day in Valencia and we (my brother, dad and me) were constantly searching for places to hide from the sun.

I'm pretty sure we walked about 12km that day and we were a sweaty mess once we were back at the car to drive home. Nevertheless, it was a great day and Valencia is worth a visit when you're visiting the Costa Blanca.

Back to the outfit: I wore these cute espadrilles all day and at the end of the day my feet were nearly killing me (I forgot to take proper walking shoes with me on holiday so these ones were the only shoes I had). But overall, this is a great outfit to wear when you're visiting a city like Valencia.

shorts: vintage Levi's from Paris | blouse: shop in Altea | espadrilles: new look | watch: shop in Calpe
