discovering lisboa {part 2}

September 19, 2015

I'm finally sitting behind my computer again, ready to start editing the photos I took in Lisboa and I already want to fly back to the sunny Portugal. The Belgian weather just makes me (and many other Belgians) want to move to a sunnier place. Honestly, if you ever want to visit Belgium, make sure you've packed enough cardigans, trousers and rain coats. No fun.

Anyway, I should be talking about the wonderful city in Portugal called Lisboa. I always get distracted too easily. Lisboa was amazing and there's so much to see. But, it's way too touristy. Every street is packed with tourists which is a bit sad. Lisboa is a great place to discover new things, but it's so crowded and noisy. The ancient buildings are stunning though and I wish Belgium looked that pretty.

Being a vegan in Lisboa isn't that easy, but when you choose a vegetarian meal, just tell them to not add cheese and that's about it. Or, visit happycow.com to see every vegan restaurant listed. Supah easy!

Here's my Lisboa-must-do list

Visit Castelo Sao Jorge in Alfama (do this in the morning)
Go shopping in Chiado
Photograph the cute streets of Bairro Alto (Praça das Flores)
Visit the Jardim da Estrela in Estrela
See the Palacio da Essembleia da Republica in Estrela
Take tram 28 'till the end
See the Ponte 28 de Abril
See the sunset in the Graça neighborhood (Miradouro da Graça)
Visit Belem (Jeronimos Monastry and the art museum)
Visit the super modern Centro Vasco Da Gama (Parque das Naçoes)
Visit the Pavilhao Atlantico
Go to the beach in Cascais and eat vegan cake in House of Wonders
Eat something in Frade Dos Mares (best restaurant ever in Estrela)

We stayed in the House Sao Bento, a guesthouse in Estrela, and I cannot recommend this place enough! It's relatively cheap, next to tram 28 and bus 713/773. Plus, the room are gorgeously decorated and the balcony is adorable!
